THE first South Devon Surf and Turf Festival in October will be a celebration of activities and organisers are inviting businesses to get involved.

Businessman Simon Harrow said: 'At a number of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty get-togethers it was abundantly clear that those looking for activity holidays or activities while on holiday were unable to find a single website or social media hub to view what is on offer in the South Hams.

'All the activity providers felt that using a non-commercial hub such as the new South Hams Activity Hub Facebook page would be an affordable way to showcase the massive amount of activities available in one place and hopefully attract new visitors to the area.

'The festival itself will be overseen by Gary Jolliffe, co founder of Endurance Life, who will assist providers in submitting a programme of activities that they will be offering over the weekend by listing them on social media and internet with a dedicated website.

'Each activity will be solely the responsibility of the provider to insure and govern and what we as event co-ordinators are offering is a not for profit hub to assist with marketing the festival.'

Simon added: 'We are seeking not only activity providers but food, beverage, accommodation and retailers to join in with celebratory menus and offers over the festival weekend.'

The Kingsbridge and Salcombe Estuary will also host the finals of the British stand-up paddle Race series during the South Devon Surf and Turf Festival on October 12 and 13.

Simon said: 'As chairman of the British Stand Up Paddle Association, I am very proud that the beautiful waters of the Kingsbridge and Salcombe estuary have been chosen to host this years flagship event.'
