What a poor job Devon County Highways has made of the pavements around the Butterwalk. The term ‘shoddy’ ­immediately springs to mind, and one assumes it ran out of matching paving slabs.

A street this old surely deserves better than this?

We residents hope the town council will take up the cudgels on our behalf and insist that the work be done properly.

May I suggest that whoever supervised the work seek alternative employment in the not-too-­distant future?
