Wouldn’t it be nice for the BID board to apologise to all the businesses for the worry, upset and stress it has caused by taking people to court, ­sending in the bailiffs to one young trader and the sheer hate that it brought to the town.

Its members told us that the BID could not be stopped. They lied.

If anyone wants to start something like this again, then think again.

The only good thing that has come out of this is that it has brought the local people closer together – all 83 per cent of us.

If any small group of people are bored with life in Dartmouth, go to Higher Street and buy a book to read, or just move.
