Simon Henderson, of Kingsbridge Lions Club, writes:

The Lions Club of Kingsbridge wishes to thank all of those people who helped with providing support for the event Blitz at the Bunker.

Without your help our small group would be hard pressed to organise such a day out for the general public.

All those who came seemed to enjoy themselves, whatever their main interest.

I know some people sat and watched the film show several times.

The success of the day was due to all those groups who took part, the Royal Observer Corps; the Girl Guides; the Royal British Legion; the Falklanders, the re-enactment team; 'Winston Churchill – his double – courtesy of Mark Paine; the Cookworthy Museum and Overbecks for Officers' Mess Second World War items, FAST, the first aid team; Peter Trembath; Martin Brooking for helping get 10,000 litres of water on site; Reg McComish, static aircraft; Clare's Kitchen for the barbecue and Naomi Stevens and her volunteers who cooked; Heron Valley and Devonia Water.

Special thanks to Chris Howell and Trevor Lethbridge for the use of the bunker, they are always generous with their help.

Finally thank you to all of the visitors who gave so generously to the Lions Club. All profits will be used for local charities.

I hope you all had a good day.
