BIGBURY Golf Club presented two cheques, totalling £2,268, to the Devon Air Ambulance and the Triangle Centre in Kingsbridge.
The funds, raised from the club’s summer jazz night, lady section raffles and coffee mornings, was split equally between the two charities and presented on Thursday, February 16.
Jason Pheasant, general manager at Bigbury, said: ‘Personally, and for the club, I’m always happy to support local charities, vital to local people. We often hold charity events, with the next big one being our Palladium Day on July 20.’
Pat Moore received the cheque on behalf of the Triangle Centre in Kingsbridge, and said: ‘We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of Bigbury Golf Club and its members. It’s always very much appreciated.’
The Triangle Centre is staffed by experienced cancer nurses, therapists and trained volunteers and they provide chemotherapy, complementary therapies, counselling and advice to patients and their families.
Rory Blair is a volunteer for the Devon Air Ambulance and as he collected their cheque he said; ‘We always welcome support from local golf clubs and organisations.
‘We are especially pleased to receive it from Bigbury as we have used the club as an emergency landing site in the past, and they are keen to support us with a night time community landing site in the future.’
