A PLYMSTOCK man has been found guilty of fishing in prohibited areas of Salcombe Harbour and has been ordered to pay £2,700.
Keith Granger, 52, of Stanborough Road, Plymstock, was found guilty of fishing for bass in his boat 'Deano II' contrary to the 'bass specified areas prohibition of fishing order'.
Granger was also found guilty of 'failing to proceed in order that you could take proper and effective action to avoid collision and be stopped within a distance appropriate to the prevailing circumstances and conditions.'
Following the court case, Salcombe Harbour Master Adam Parnell said: 'Our contracted security team is Salcombe Security Solutions, who regularly patrol the estuary on our behalf.
'I'm delighted that this successful prosecution has highlighted the vigilance of our security patrol and I hope it will act as a deterrent against similar illegal activities in the future.'
Granger originally pleaded not guilty on February 18, but was found guilty on April 22.
He was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £750 of costs. He will pay £50 a month.
