A baby group is bridging the gap between young and old by running their sessions in
a home for the elderly.
Residents at Douro Court, an assisted living facility in Ivybridge run by Guinness Care, have been enjoying weekly visits from Moo Music customers.
They deliver music, movement and multi-sensory sessions to babies and toddlers and their
care-givers.
Owner Lisa Clark explained: “We ran our sessions at Douro Court pre-pandemic and saw some beautiful bonds being formed between the elderly residents and our children.
It’s wonderful to be back seeing the Douro Court residents engaging with the children during our sessions.”
After the sessions, known as Intergenerational Moo, Moo Music, families are invited to stay behind for tea,
cake and a catch up with the residents.
“Following more than 18 months of near total isolation for our elderly, it feels like these sessions are more important than ever,” Lisa continued.
“It’s been proven time and time again that bringing together old and young sparks new energy, enthusiasm and knowledge in each other’s lives.
For the care-givers, it’s a chance to glean parenting tips and tricks from a generation who have seen and done it all before.”
Families attending Moo Music sessions at Douro Court must adhere to strict COVID protocols. They include providing evidence of being double vaccinated, taking a lateral flow test on the morning of the session, wearing a mask while walking around, unless sitting on a mat or eating and drinking.
