The Team Astro to Atlantic have reached out to thank their sponsor Favis of Salcombe.
The team, Louise Read, Helen Symons, Chloe Harvey and Emily Read, are planning to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean this December from La Gomera to Antiguato in support of the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.
The team said: “We would like to express our thanks to our amazing Bronze Sponsor, Favis of Salcombe for supporting us with our Atlantic campaign. We could not be prouder to be sponsored by such a successful local business as Favis.”
The four team members of Kingsbridge and Salcombe Hockey Club enjoyed a photoshoot with Laura Favis alongside the Favis Fishing Boat, Emma Jane which really put into perspective the tiny size of their ocean rowing boat!
The photoshoot involved three boats manoeuvring on the water and could not have been achieved without their photographer, Clare Booth, who has captured their whole journey in snapshots so far.
The team would also like to thank all of their other current sponsors for all their support, they could not have reached this point without the help and belief of the local community.
Their boat has also seen some changes in the past few months, new sponsor stickers as more generous businesses come on board and a new boat name. The team would like to say a big thank you to Ross at Future Client for designing, providing and printing all of the sponsors’ logos on to the boat. ?The new boat name will be ‘Huntress’, a “strong, powerful name for a team of four strong, powerful women” and you will soon see the Huntress logo branded on the back of the boat.
Look for the girls out on the water and send them any photos you capture to help them build their training log. All 96 hours of required training, including 24 hours in darkness, have to be logged before September 1.
There is still time to be involved with this unique project, get in touch with them if you are interested in being featured on the boat with this advertising opportunity.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is rapidly growing in publicity. You may have seen the Astro to Atlantic girls featured on BBC Spotlight and ITV News Westcountry recently and their PR campaign continues to grow.
The team is now at the final stages of their campaign and have less than five months to go to meet all their necessary funding required for their vital safety equipment for the race start on December 12.
The safety kit and equipment involved with this challenge is a large, extensive list and one which the girls are desperately trying to meet. The team would appreciate any final financial or product support for these items to help them survive at sea.
The dream is now becoming far more of a reality and this has only made the team’s desire to compete for the world record even greater!
