AN annual arts and crafts fair in Kingsbridge will raise money for the charity Médecins Sans Frontières, also known as Doctors Without Borders.
Médecins Sans Frontières, or MSF, doctors are striving to help people in the worst conditions around the world, operating in Afghanistan, Syria, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia.
MSF run hospitals, one that was hit by US bombs in Kunduz, Afghanistan, on October 3, killing twelve staff and ten patients, including three children; they provide post-rescue care on board a search and rescue ship in the Mediterranean. They also have the Bourbon Argos and the Dignity I to pull people from the water.
Since 1971, MSF has cared for millions of people caught up in crises. They go where the need is greatest, be it in a natural disaster, war, an exodus of refugees or to help people excluded from healthcare.
But the present worldwide refugee crisis is stretching their resources to their limits.
Local MSF fundraiser Thalia Vitali said: ‘This is where we can ALL help, in a way that brightens Christmas for everyone.
‘Our annual arts and crafts fair in aid of MSF has yet again gathered top local artists and craftspeople, all offering a wide range of unique gifts for all the family. Why not join us on Friday, November 27, and Saturday, November 28, between 10am -5pm in The Market Hall, Kingsbridge, to have a look around the wonderful selection of gifts on display and enjoy freshly brewed coffee, tea and home-made cakes with us.
‘Your purchases, as your presence, will go a long way toward the continued work of MSF. Looking forward to seeing you there!’
