Artist wins Innovation Award at international competition.

Sadie Aucott, an artist based in Strete was persuaded by her family to enter a call to British and international artists to submit examples of their work for part of the IN:SIGHT 2018 competition.

The call for artists came from the Washington Art Group together with Castle Galleries, the largest fine art retailer in the UK with over 30 galleries.

Selected as a finalist, Sadie had the opportunity to have her work displayed in a month long exhibition at the Castle Fine Art Manchester gallery.

There were 600 applications to the competition and Sadie was chosen as one of only 20 finalists. While attending the Meet the Artists evening with her family on Thursday, August 23, it was announced she was the winner of the Innovation Award.

She said she was “astounded” when it was announced. “It was an amazing experience and I am still smiling.

“The evening was surreal and very exciting. I felt privileged to have my work on display with the other successful artists and to have the opportunity to meet art enthusiasts, the other artists, gallery staff and the judges.”

The exhibition in Manchester ran from Saturday, July 28, to Sunday, August 26. Richard Levine was the winner of the publishing contract and £2,000, plus Tim Christie from New Zealand won the Peoples Choice Award.
