AVETON Gifford resident and keen surfer Steve Broad has raised £350 for Cancer Research UK by auctioning off his painting of Bantham.
Steve, whose wife has recently gone into remission from cancer, decided to auction off his painting to support her fight.
‘Thanks to everyone who bid’, said Steve on Friday, ‘especially those in the Bantham surfing community. We raised £350 and the highest bidder was Karen Viles in Pembrokeshire, and we will be posting it tomorrow.’
Steve, who took just an hour and a half to paint the stunning image of Bantham beach and Burgh Island, also thanked Nick Day from Parcelforce, who has offered to transport the painting to the Welsh county, 237 miles away, free of charge.
Helen Masters, manager of the Cancer Research UK shop in Kingsbridge, said: ‘Thank you so much to Steve and all who bid for the painting. This has come at a perfect time as we are currently promoting art work in the shop and we have a great selection.
‘We can use our Cancer Research website and social media to promote any art work been sold in aid of the charity, so get in touch. We are also always looking for volunteers and donations!’
You can contact Helen at the shop on: 01548 852484.
