JEAN PEARSE, of Malborough, writes:
Sixty years ago, when I was 15 years old, on February 6, 1952, I was a nursing orderly at Flete Maternity Hospital at Holbeton, Lord Mildmay's castle. I was stood in the little ward known as the Tower room, where there was four beds and four little cots.
On the morning of February 6, 1952, sister Pratt rushed in and said: 'The King has died in his sleep'.
I would like to know if there is anyone living in the South Hams area that was born at the castle in this diamond year?
