THIS Saturday, the Apple Fair will celebrate the autumn apple harvest on Stokenham Village Green.

The popular free community event brings together three community orchards - Chillington Great Wood, Beeson Village Green and Stokenham Village Green.

There will be an apple press on the green, and people are invited to bring along their own apples and containers to make juice to take home.

Children from Stokenham Primary School and Stokenham Girl Guides have already been collecting apples from the orchards for the press, so there will be plenty of apple juice on offer.

There will be a variety of stalls, with wine and cider, cakes, crepes, a barbecue, children’s games and story-teller Sarah Hurley.

The fair is supported by the Growing Community Orchards Project, Stokenham Village Community Association, Stokenham Parish Council, Forest and Beach, Beeson Community Orchard Group and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Organisers are hoping that this will become an annual event, and hopefully will bring people from far and wide to celebrate the fruits of our local orchards.
