MORE than 20 per cent of rubbish put into grey landfill bins by South Hams householders is food.
Now South Hams Council is going out with a 'Love Food Hate Waste' road show.
The recycling and waste team will be offering tips, information and advice about cutting down on food waste. The road show will visit Kingsbridge Market on Tuesday, July 16, from 9am to 3pm.
Cllr Rufus Gilbert said: 'It is shocking to think that nationally 7.2 million tonnes of food and drink is thrown away ever year.
'If we stopped, we would save the equivalent of 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.'
The council is working with a Government campaign which provides tips for people trying to cut down on food waste.
