Kathryn Stott gives the next recital in the popular international classical series at the Flavel on Saturday, February 10, at 7.30pm. She comes to Dartmouth as part of her 60th birthday celebratory tour with a programme entitled “Song & Dance”.
A spokesman said: “There is something for everyone here, be they aficionados of the piano repertoire or simply someone who likes a good tune. The wide-ranging programme includes Liszt’s virtuoso transcription of Wagner’s “Delibes” from “Tristan und Isolde”, an arrangement for solo piano of Ravel’s exciting orchestral piece “La Valse”, pieces by Bach, Grieg, Chopin and a pianistic treatment of tunes including the Londonderry Air, My Favourite Things and Embraceable You.”
Stott has built a long career and formidable reputation as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. She also collaborates with other outstanding musicians such as trumpeter Tine Thing Seethe and American cellist Yo-Yo Ma, with whom she regularly tours worldwide.
The spokesman added: ‘We look forward to a wonderful evening from this internationally acclaimed pianist who has constantly performed around the world since 1978, when she was a prize winner in the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition.
“How marvellous that she comes to us from platforms such as the BBC Proms, Wig more Hall, and recital tours across the USA and the Far East. We are proud to include the Flavel on this map.”
Tickets for this Flavel concert are available from the Flavel Box Office on 01803 839530 or online at: www.theflavel.org.uk.
