I have just read my Dartmouth Chronicle, August 11, with amazement.

We visited the Woofstock dog show. It was brilliantly organised. It was astonishingly well attended and looked fantastic with lovely stalls.

Thousands of dogs and their owners were obviously enjoying a great event.

We met Heather, the organiser, and congratulated her on giving the town such an enjoyable event. It is just what Coronation Park is for.

The next day I noticed the park was completely cleared up with no trace of the festival.

Then I saw another article about an enterprising young lady trying to set up a street-selling ice cream business.

And then I discover that member(s) of the town council were trying to prevent both of these two people doing something that creates jobs and trade and adds to the fun of Dartmouth.

Would this be the council that tried to stop restaurants and cafes having outdoor tables in the past?

Dartmouth is full of brilliant people and organisations organising the Music Festival, Food Festival, Flavel Centre, Royal Regatta, Christmas Candlelit and many other events. Let’s try to encourage everyone who has a good idea, not squash them.
