ANGRY parish councillors are protesting over 'outrageous' rents being charged for new affordable homes in South Brent. At the parish council meeting on Monday, councillors shared their strong views on the rents at the new Avondale Terrace development in the village to Simon Wright, South Hams Council's environmental health and housing spokesman. Homes at Avondale Terrace were converted by South Hams Council from emergency accommodation into three and four bedroom accomodation. In the development the three bedroom homes are priced at £605 per month while the four bedroom homes are £750 a month. Before the conversion, the district council stated that homes would be 'affordable', but now parish councillors say, they saw 'tenants in tears'
