UPDATE: THE ROAD IS NOW OPEN The A379 at Frogmore is set to open tonight after being closed for a week due to flood alleviation works.
The road was set to open next Friday, March 8, however residents recieved an email yesterday to say the works have gone "very well, without any delays", meaning that this initial phase will be completed "this week and therefore will not need to return next week".
The second phase is planned to take place over the summer.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council’s cabinet member for highways management said: “I’m delighted that contractors have completed the Frogmore works a week earlier than planned. The road will reopen to traffic in time for the afternoon commute no later than 5pm today Friday, March 1.”
Cllr Julian Brazil took the time to thank the contractors and workers, but also wanted to give a "special and massive thanks" to Cllr Nigel Smith, chairman of Frogmore and Sherford Parish Council, for all his efforts
