A cheque for £500 was presented by staff and patients of Hyne Town House in Strete to Rowcroft’ Ambassador, Carolyn Williams.

Rowcroft is a local hospice providing support for up to 2,200 people each year.

At a charity night, held earlier, an auction raised £430 for Rowcroft. Auction prizes were donated by a number of local business in Strete, Slapton, Blackawton and Dartmouth including, Strete Post Office, Queens Arms, Sportsman Arms, Castle Hotel and Dart Marina.

A week prior to the auction, the care home, Gary Hood, took part in a half marathon at Plymouth. He completed the course in one hour 41 minutes.

Gary’s sponsorship raised a further £70 for Rowcroft and £260 for the veteran’s mental health charity, Combat Stress. Combat Stress is the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity. They treat a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety.
