A man was freed from a car which had been crushed by a tree in South Brent.

Fire appliances from Ivybridge and Ashburton were called to the scene.

On arrival, crews found one adult trapped inside the vehicle. Using hydraulic tools firefighters first removed the driver’s side door giving better access for paramedics to treat the casualty. They then removed the rear door and had to force the dashboard away from the driver’s feet which were trapped using a technique called a ‘dashboard lift’, and freeing the casualty to be treated by the ambulance crews.
