A suspect who fled from police has been Tasered following a two-hour manhunt in the South Hams.
Police were called to the village of Frogmore at about 3.50am on Sunday following reports of a disturbance at a property.
A male suspect fled the scene and a police helicopter was deployed to help with the search.
At around 5.45am a man in his 20s was discovered hiding in nearby fields.
He allegedly became violent with officers, leading to him to being Tasered and detained.
He was found to be in breach of a civil restraining order and will appear in court at a later date.
A force spokesman said: “Police were called at 3.50am on Sunday, October 27, to an address in Frogmore following a disturbance at a property.
“Units attended and undertook a search for a male suspect, this was initially unsuccessful, so police requested the NPAS helicopter support at around 5am.
“The suspect was located with their support at around 5.45am.
“The suspect became aggressive towards officers and a Taser was deployed.
“After being given the medical all-clear, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of trespass but later released with no further action being taken into this matter.
“He was also found in breach of a civil restraining order and this matter will now be handled by the courts.”
Kingsbridge Police issued a tongue-in-cheek apology to residents whose sleep had been affected by the search.
“We understand that the noise may have disturbed some and ruined your extra hour but this was a necessary evil to locate the offender,” they wrote on Facebook.
“Please understand that these decisions aren’t taken lightly.
“#SorryNotSorry.”
