A massive tree collapsed in Ivybridge last weekend - crushing a parked car and bringing down power lines.
Station Road was closed after a “strong gale took its toll” on the oak tree on Saturday, August 10.
The fall also affected the nearby Ivybridge Medical Practice, which lost access to its clinical system and had to redirect patients' calls on Monday.
Ivybridge Town Council said: “A large limb from one of our veteran trees in Victoria Park has broken off and blocked Station Road as well as taking down power lines alongside the river.
“Regrettably a car was also parked underneath the tree and we understand the owner has been contacted.
“Although this tree was inspected earlier this year it was in full leaf and the strong gale took its toll.”
Beacon Medical Group, who run Ivybridge Medical Practice, said: "The fallen tree on station road has affected access to the clinical system.
"We have diverted calls to keep the service running as smoothly as possible.
"We will continue to run services as normally as we can but there may be some disruption.
"Please bear with us."
A Devon County Council spokesman said: “Station Road was closed for the safety of the public just before 6pm on Saturday after a large oak tree branch fell onto the road.
"Unfortunately it also brought down some power cables which have had to be repaired over the weekend.
"The remaining debris of the tree has been cleared on Monday morning and the road should re-open imminently."
