A town councillor is being investigated by police for allegedly spitting on a relative of a fellow councillor.

Cllr Tessa de Galleani is alleged to have spat on a relative of Cllr Steve Smith during an incident in Dartmouth last month.

The relative of Cllr Smith sometimes works as a volunteer for Dartmouth Community Chest.

Police this week confirmed the complaint was being investigated.Cllr de Galleani said: "There is no side to this story as there is not story, it is a complete fabrication.“If anyone believe this, it says far more about them than it does me."
