Over the weekend, Dart RNLI and Dartmouth Coastguard had a search for him. The lifeboat team conducted a shoreline search of the River Dart.
Dart RNLI said: “Officially his name is Martin but friends know him as Ben. He is a wonderful man…loves Dartmouth and the surrounding area and the coastal walks.
“Dart RNLI and Coastguard have been involved in assisting Ben on more than one occasion. Please, please if you see him report to the police.”
Yesterday the coastguard was tasked with Prawle point coastguard to search for Mr Bennett. Because there is no last known location, the coastguard teams conducted a thorough search in the isolated areas where he is known to regularly walk.
Areas searched included Blackpool Sands to Matthews Point, Dartmouth Castle to Compass Cove and the South Embankment as far as Bayard’s Cove, before the police moved the search to areas at the top of Dartmouth.
Dartmouth Coastguard said: “With nothing found the search has been stood down until further information is received.
“Thank you to everyone involved and hopefully Martin is found safe and well soon.”
