A 48-year-old parent has been fined £40 and ordered to pay £60 costs plus a £20 victim surcharge for failing to ensure a 13-year-old attended Dartmouth Academy regularly, between September last year and April this year.

The case against Pauline Dixon, of Mayflower Close, Dartmouth, was found proved in her absence by magistrates in Torquay on Wednesday.
