A CAR parked in the Kings Arms hotel car park in Kingsbridge was set alight on Sunday morning.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were called to the scene about 1.30am, and extinguished the fire.

Police believe the fire to have been started deliberately.

A spokesperson for Kingsbridge Police said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing - the fire service did attend, and quickly put the fire out before any widespread damage occurred. No one was hurt fortunately.’

On Tuesday, Kingsbridge Police reported: ‘A 34 year old man was arrested on suspicion of arson after three fires were reported in Fore Street, Kingsbridge over the last two weeks. He has been bailed pending further investigations.’

This followed three incidents of arson in the town, with rubbish bags being set alight in Western Backway and Fore Street the week before.
