The McColl’s in Ivybridge was held up at knifepoint on Wednesday night, leaving the store assistant “very shaken”.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at the McColl’s shop on Costly Street, Ivybridge, around 10.15pm on Wednesday, September 20.

A police representative said: “Officers are investigating after reports that a store assistant was threatened with a knife and was made to open the till and give over a quantity of cash to the offender.

“The offender is described as male, white, 6ft tall, and was wearing a blue coat with a hood covering his face.”?

A member of staff at the shop said on Thursday morning that the attending police officer had stated that Ivybridge hadn’t seen violent crime such as this “for over 10 years”. He said the robbery had come “out of the blue”.

He added: “The victim was physically unharmed, but very shaken, and as an employer we are doing all we can to support her.”
