A NINETY-year-old man has been fined for driving without due care and attention.

Peter Cotes, of Vavasour House, North Embankment, Dartmouth, admitted the offence which took place in Kings Ash Road, Paignton, while he was driving a silver Mitsubishi Shogun.

Cotes was fined £290 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £30 victim surcharge, by Torquay magistrates on Wednesday last week. His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

A man who stole a woman’s handbag and used her credit card to buy goods from the Spar shop in Mayflower Close, Townstal, and the BP garage on Townstal Road has been fined £240 and ordered to pay £248 compensation.

Jai Lee Griffiths, 29, of Davis Road, Townstal, admitted the offences when he appeared before magistrates in Torquay on Wednesday last week.

Griffiths was additionally ordered to pay £85 costs.

In a separate case, Griffiths had an £811 fine imposed on September 7 reduced by £515 due to a change in circumstances.
