A builder was lucky to escape with his life after a gunman took a pot shot at him while he was working at the top of a building.

Chris Moseley was working 70ft up a building in Warfleet, Dartmouth, when an airgun pellet pierced a double-glazed window just feet away from him.

Now he is offering a £500 reward for information which may lead to the discovery of the culprit.

Mr Moseley, from Dartmouth, was painting windows on a scissor lift at The Pottery when he was almost hit by the pellet.

‘I heard a noise and at first thought a bird had gone into the glass,’ he said.

‘Then I discovered there was hole in the window just next to me. The force of the shot could have killed me.’

He said the same thing happened the following day as he and his son were working at the property.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident on Thursday, October 18, and another instance of criminal damage at the Castle tea rooms when windows were smashed by somebody firing an air rifle.

They say they believe the incidents at The Pottery and the Castle tea rooms are linked.
