FREEZING early morning temperatures claimed a victim today when a driver flipped her car on black ice in the lanes.

The driver was briefly trapped in her upside down vehicle after losing control on a minor road between Gingaford Cross and Reddacleave Kiln Cross at 6.41am on Thursday.

The site of the single vehicle crash is an out of the way spot a mile or two north of South Brent, west of Harbourneford.

The driver was released from the vehicle by Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service crews from Buckfastleigh and Ashburton, and treated for shock by paramedics while police closed the road.
