Tuesday, September 25, at 4.30pm, Dartmouth’s fire engine, made its shortest run ever, to put the fire out in the back of Chris Mosley’s van. The rear compartment of the van was ablaze.

Mr Moseley said: “I was surprised by the fire and I tried to get out of town and to the fire station. I didn’t quite get there but managed to get within yards. It was on the day of the hit and run when everything was going on but College Way was open by then.

"The insurance company have now taken the van away to figure out what’s what’s.”
