Dartmouth’s Town Crier Les Ellis scooped a ‘best crier’ award at Callington Honey Fair in Cornwall last weekend.

Nine criers took part from Devon and Cornwall. Les reclaimed the award after winning the event previously back in 2018, prior to the pandemic.

He said he was “delighted” to win it again.

The award was presented by Cllr Peter Watson, the Portreeve and Mayor of Callington.

Phil Northcott of Penzance, current holder of the prestigious Sir Francis Drake Armada crier cup, was placed second, and David Turner, crier of Tavistock, was placed third.
