Kingsbridge In Bloom have welcomed their judges for the Champion of Champions South West in Bloom competition.

The two judges, Jon Wheatley - chair of RHS South West in Bloom, and guest judge Sue Maddocks, arrived in Kingsbridge on Monday and met the whole Kingsbridge In Bloom team on the quay, including Teddy the dog in his own KIB necktie, before moving off to judge the work across the town.

Graham Price, chair of Kingsbridge In Bloom, said: “We will not know until the results are announced on October 4, at the Yeovil Awards, but Jon Wheatley thought our entry was very strong and the town looked stunning.

“He was also most impressed by the quality of our displays and dedication of the ’Bloom’ group in Kingsbridge.

“We now have a high workload to keep our quality displays looking good for our next judging for the RHS Britain in Bloom National Finals on August 6, which sees Kingsbridge compete against the very best towns in UK.

“We hope that everyone will support us to keep the town weed free and attractive for everyone to enjoy.”

The guest judge Sue Maddocks told Kingsbridge In Bloom: “I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful day you gave me today. I feel very honoured to have been shown all the amazing work undertaken by all the bloomers and to have been treated to such generous hospitality.

“Wishing you all good luck on August 6 in the Nationals.”
