THE Green Party parliamentary candidate for South West Devon was chosen for next year's general election at a well-attended hustings. Win Scutt, from Ermington, was selected to stand next May.

Mr Scutt is well-known in the South Devon area. He has worked within the local community for more than 36 years through roles in the Plymouth Junior Chamber of Commerce, in tourism and the Plympton Rotary Club, where he served as president until June this year.

He said: 'I'm proud to have been selected. We live in challenging times, when the Government's austerity agenda is hitting hard. We're seeing more services cut and then local people are asked to take the services on themselves – it's crazy.'

Mr Scutt has worked at Plymouth University and is currently a curator with English Heritage. He has regular radio slots covering archeological issues.

Mr Scutt will soon be launching his own website and people can find him on Facebook to make contact.

I look forward to meeting many local residents over the coming months.'
