South Hams fire crews doused a greenhouse and shed blaze yesterday.

In the early hours of the morning, two fire engines from Dartmouth and Kingsbridge were sent to Higher Island, Blackawton. A supporting officer also assisted.

Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue said that on arrival, some garden fencing, shed, and greenhouse were “well alight.”

The damage was “severe” to the fence, shed and greenhouse and the roof and guttering of the bungalow.

The crews used two hose reel jets, one safety jet, a thermal imaging camera, a double extension ladder and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the blaze.
