HAVING been rained off on Tuesday, Dartmouth Golf Club’s ladies were hoping for better weather for their Tee to Tea Open on Thursday.

Sadly, torrential overnight rain forced it to be postponed until August 1. Existing bookings can be carried forward and new bookings accepted online.

It has been a week of tumbling handicaps for the men this week with returning golfers working towards a full handicap profile. Jack Kirby began the season with a Handicap Index of 14.7 but is now playing off 5.9; Lee Marels began with 3.1 and is now on +0.8. Despite the changes, both players continue to score well.

In the Men’s Midweek Stableford, Jack was the clear winner of Division One with 38 points ahead of Matt Young on 35. Barrie O’Shea was first in Division Two (35 points) followed by Kevin Hoare (33).

There was no stopping Lee in the Saturday Mixed Stableford. His score card was peppered with birdies and pars, and his 44 points put him well ahead of Haydn Thomas on 38 points. Lady Captain Chris Mayer put in a strong finish in Division Two, beating Nigel Osborne on count back with 35 points.

Conditions were obviously favourable, with nine twos; most were scored on the third but Keith Sexton needed a tremendous tee shot on the long seventh for his.

Our Dartmoor League team are performing well at the moment and are very grateful for the sponsorship provided by Woollens Solicitors.
